Hi Everyone,
After a very long time I have decided to come back on television with Airtel Super Singer Junior 2 on Star Vijay. It was certainly a daunting task as most of the kids were just amazingly talented. We are having a tough time selecting the better singers.A special mention about the parents who take so much of trouble that they sing the lyrics of the song along with their child, they teach them a few movements to go along with it(oh yes! you will see them doing the step in their seats),they are exuberant when their child is selected, they cry when they see their child crying but put a brave face in front of their child to give them the support they need at that tender moment... And on a lighter vein, there was this one 6 year old who was told that we (th judges) had the keys to the beach and on being selected we would give him a pass and he could enter it.So Innocent...
Sometimes I hate my job as I have to reject some children and the look at you with such pain in their eyes that you feel you are a villian on a away-taking away their only hope and all.God! Its just too much to take sometimes.I feel terrible for all those who havent made it to the next rounds, but all I can say is that this is like an o[pportunity to work on their skills and come back bigger and better :-)

Hello Mam, I have been watching Airtel Super Singer Junior 2 offlate and I am so much impressed by the way all 3 of you are handling the kids. With so much affection....

You give them good suggestions, even when you know that they will not be selected. I am sure kids love this kind of treatment. Full of love and optimism. Great going!!

I definitely have become your fan mam!!

hello mam! never thought u had a blog running(well organized blog). well u got great voice i must admit that! i first saw when u came to our college for the ovations in chennai.well i m a fan of kishore kumar , i dont know the intricate details of music but wanted to ask u what do u think abt the untrained singers yet magical kishore kumar. and my question is do u need rules and boundries when u sing (until it is pleasing) because i see often some childeren r rejected based on the shruthi , what not!

to be very honest with you..i dont watch much of tamil cinema world but iam facinated with super singer junior 2 race which is now on Vijay TV.
Me and my kids practically glued to our tv screen since we first notice the show. You are such a wonderful judge and you made all singers sure to envy you ...not forgetting Unni and smiling bird mahati (hope i got her name right)...I began looking for songs which sang by 3 of you....
YOu treat the kids well good and i like to watch the way you 3 praise the talents of the young.
My little girls (deepa and Pavietra) and great fan of you and mahati....they have your photos on the wall already.
Keep up a great work and dont let go your wonderful smile....

hello Shalini,
I am a huge fan of yours and follow your blog regularly, I appreciate your talent and I just love your smile, You are not bias and quite honest in your judgment. I was indeed disappointed on 11 Feb 2010 air-tel super singer episode when vishnucharan was eliminated, the judges ask the kids not to have the lyric paper in their hand and they have even eliminated few for tat single reason, but roshan had the lyric paper and none of the 3 judges including you mentioned about it. It was very disappointing to watch as an avid fan of super singer. dont you think think they are partial towards him since the beginning?
what do you have to say about it?
I am awaiting your reply

Hi there Nandini,
Thanks for all your comments. As for the limination of Vishnucharan,it was definitely not because of the lyric paper. It was based on 2 performances and the weakest performer was who had to be eliminated.I personally like Vishnucharans voice alot an so do the others but he was not up to the mark when compared to the other kids those two days.Theres never partiality in such things so pl be rest assured that if children perform well consistently, they will definitely be given their deserved marks.Lets hope he comes back in the wild card round..Thanks so much for writing in:-)
